Praying through scripture, especially the Psalms, is one among the foremost powerful and impactful ways I prefer to wish. The Psalms are the prayers and praises of God’s people, words that cover every human emotion and wish, God’s words prayed bent him.
Psalm 25 gives us three simple, yet powerful prayers. Prayers that have the potential to vary your heart and your life – if you’ll allow your heart to believe and undergo God’s will.
1) In you, Lord, I put my trust
1 To You, O Lord, I lift my soul.2 O my God, in You I [have unwavering] trust [and I believe You with steadfast confidence], Do not let me be ashamed or my hope in You be disappointed; Do not let my enemies conquer me.3 Indeed, none of these who [expectantly] await you’ll be ashamed; Those who shy away from what’s right and deal treacherously without cause are going to be ashamed (humiliated, embarrassed). ( Amplified Bible)
Pray these verses to place your trust in God, releasing your control over a situation or decision you’re facing. Pray for unwavering trust in God and steadfast confidence that he will walk with you through whatever you’re facing.
2) Make me and lead me, O Lord
4 Make me understand your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.5 Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you’re the God of my salvation; for you, I wait all the day long. ( ESV)
Pray these verses to submit your plans to God. Pray to release your attempts to regulate your life and permit God to steer you. Ask God to point out you the trail to His better future for your life, for he’s the God of your salvation and therefore the one who wants the simplest for your life.
3) Forgive me, Lord
6 Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they’re the form of old.7 don’t remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, Lord, are good.8 Good and upright is that the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.9 He guides the standard in what’s right and teaches them his way.10 All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful toward those that keep the stress of his covenant.11 For the sake of your name, Lord, forgive my iniquity, though it’s great. ( NIV)
We all sin. That’s the bottom of the human condition. We are rebellious against the way God wants us to measure. We turn from the trail he sets before us. We make mistakes. Yet we serve a God filled with grace and mercy. He will guide the standard and forgive your sins if you’ll just admit your wrongs.
Pray over the areas in your life where you’ve stumbled and detoured from God’s path, where you’ve made mistakes and sinned, where you’ve fallen in need of all God’s desires from your life. Own up to your sins and ask God’s forgiveness. Ask him to point out you a far better way and to assist you progress forward.
